East of Porterville

I returned to an older work of mine for a few small additions, which was one of the central pieces in my exhibition at the Karikaturmuseum Krems.
Anyway, the reason is that I stumbled upon a small painting by Carl Barks by chance. Going with the title "East of Porterville" (#21-69, 1969, Carl Barks). And—due to the similar layout—it reminded me of my work. The two paintings clearly tell different stories; Barks' is obviously showing an abandoned house, the mailbox having since become a nesting place for songbirds. Mine, on the other hand, emphasizes an architectural idea. What Donald Duck's "ordinary" suburban house, with its gabled roof and all the rest we know from it, would look like if Carl Barks had opted for a modernist version.
In any case, I had now borrowed the little songbird from Barks's painting. It somehow completes the picture now.

Freshly tapped anger clouds

Freshly tapped clouds of anger, straight from Donald Duck's head. Just a moment after they're created, they are filled into transparent balloons and ready to be carried around. It's currently a hit at Duckburg's annual fairground.

Unfortunately, the business idea doesn't come from Donald himself, but from Uncle Scrooge. Donald is furious, which, in turn, is good for business and production performance.

Every sheet is a multiple original. In the case of the red version, the banana on each sheet is hand-drawn by me; in the dark version, it is the jet of flame that shoots out of the rear of the car. Each sheet is unique and part of these consistent editions, limited to a number of only 34 (dark) or 17 (red) pieces. Printed on Edition Duerer® high quality textured drawing paper. Exactly the very paper I use for drawing.

About the work:
With this work I returned to one of my favorite works. The 'FAT 313'. A "fusion satire" or parody and at the same time homage to Donald Duck himself, his no less famous '313', the artists Maurizio Cattelan, Erwin Wurm, Manfred Deix and last but not least, duck father Carl Barks. In my original work (from 2020/2021), I had taped Donald Duck Cattelan's famous banana to the cap and the FAT 313, based on Erwin Wurm's fat car, simply stood fat and silent on its wheels.
Here, in this reboot of the parody, things have literally started moving, I wanted to see the FAT 313 drive. Among other things, the radiator grille now resembles a turbine engine and the banana sticks to the outside wall of the chassis to increase the value of the vehicle. Hence the title 'The Six Million Dollar Car' (6MDC).

The Dark Matter Version of the 6MDC: I followed the idea of trying to create my own alter ego version of Donald Duck. Which then led to Donald Dark. The difference to Donald's other alter egos is that he is not aware of this when he changes into the Donald Dark character. Similar to Robert Louis Stevenson's 'Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde'. And what better way to illustrate the transformation than to extend it to the 313.
